ZOAT

120 years of history

The ZOAT hockey tournament, short for Zuidoost Azië Toernooi (Southeast Asia Tournament) is an annual field hockey tournament rotating between South-East Asia’s leading cities, for passionate professionals.

The ZOAT hockey tournament originated in 1906 in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was established by Dutch expatriates aiming to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship.

In 1972, the tournament adopted its current format, evolving into an annual event that rotates among five cities including Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
ZOAT has grown to become a prominent social and sporting occasion, attracting around 400 participants. The tournament not only features competitive field hockey matches but also includes padel events, parties, and various social activities.

After 7 years, ZOAT returns to Hong Kong, after visiting all 4 other locations and a 2 year hiatus due to the pandemic.
